Sharp, sweet, or iced

The three directions cherry usually takes are worth knowing before choosing. A sharp cherry leans sour and reads as fresh fruit. A sweet cherry leans towards confectionery. An iced cherry adds a menthol finish that cuts the sweetness considerably — often the difference between a flavour that works all day and one that becomes cloying.

Sweetness and coil life

Darker and sweeter fruit blends leave residue on a coil faster than lighter ones, so a heavily sweetened cherry will shorten pod life compared with a crisp one. If pods seem to be running out quickly, the liquid is a more likely cause than the pods.

Storage

Keep bottles closed, upright, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Liquid darkens with age as the flavourings oxidise — that is expected rather than a fault, though flavour fades with it. Check the best-before date on the bottle or carton.

Common problems, and what actually causes them

• Burnt taste on a new pod — the wick was not saturated. Fill, then wait five minutes before the first puff.
• Leaking — often a liquid thinner than the coil was built for, or a pod filled with no air gap left at the top.
• Flavour fading after a week — normal coil wear. Sweeter and darker liquids shorten coil life noticeably.
• Harshness that was not there before — usually a tired coil rather than the liquid itself.

UK standard delivery is £2.99, and free on orders over £30. Orders placed before 2pm on a working day are dispatched the same day. Everything is sent in plain outer packaging, and an age check is carried out at checkout because these are age-restricted products.
